Below are the events that QRA has managed since 2002:

devyoungMalakoff Malaysian Duathlon Series (MMDS)

This duathlon (run-bike-run race) began in 2002 and grew 400% in terms of participation from the early days of 160 participants. Designed as a local race series of 2 to 3 races in a year, to prepare Malaysians for the pinnacle race - Powerman Malaysia, the MMDS has attracted many from all walks of life through its Sprint Distance, Long Distance and Relay team events. This event was title sponsored by Malakoff Corporation Berhad since it's inception in 2002.

Erika_BennyPowerman Malaysia

Powerman Malaysia is part of an International race series found mainly in Europe and US and has been organised by QRA since 2002. Powerman Malaysia attracts not only local racers and racers from around the region but also brings in competitors from Europe as it is the only Asian qualifier for the toughest duathlon - Powerman Zofingen, held yearly in Switzerland. This event has been title sponsored by Malakoff Corporation Berhad since it's inception in 2002.

Seat_BananaMalakoff University Duathlon Series (MUDS)

Organised in 2003, 2008, 2009 this race was a spin-off from the MMDS race series, but in Universities to harness younger talent and give university sports clubs a feel of organising races. In 2003, the Universities that were selected were presented with bicycles by main sponsor Malakoff Corporation Berhad, to their sport clubs to start them off. The race took place in 3 local universities and grew the base athletes that raced in local series MMDS as well as Powerman Malaysia.
In 2008 and 2009, host Universities were given a monetary contribution by main sponsor Malakoff Corporation Berhad and co-sponsor Powerbar to help the University's Sport Centre to better their facilities as well as provide students with avenues for growth in sporting activities.

KL Mountain Bike Carnival

Organised by QRA since 2003, the KL Mountain Bike Carnival comprises of a Carnival section with food bazaar, games for adults and kids, entertainment for the entire family and a mountain bike race running concurrently for cycling enthusiast. QRA's role in the carnival was solely the organiser of the mountain bike race and mini sports carnival in the recent years for participants.

MTB_CLINICskillsKL Mountain Bike Clinic

Organised as a pre-event to the KL Mountain Bike Carnival, the clinic was intended to provide TTDI and Kiara Park users, newer mountain bikers and nature lovers an avenue to learn more about mountain biking skills, how to look after trails and the flora and fauna in the Kiara Park area.

Salomon X-Trail Run (off-road)

Organised as a pre-event to the KL Mountain Bike Carnival, the clinic was intended to provide TTDI and Kiara Park users, newer mountain bikers and nature lovers an avenue to learn more about mountain biking skills, how to look after trails and the flora and fauna in the Kiara Park area.

KLDowntown

KL Downtown (Urban Downhill Mountain Bike Race)

In 2008, QRA organised a downhill mountain bike race, set on an urban landscape (Bukit Komawel Park), the KL Downtown race was organised jointly with a local Bike Shop featuring downhill biking heroes - Steve Peat (7 years Reigning King of Red Bull Downtown Portugal), Josh Bryceland (2008 Junior World Champ) and Cedric Garcia (Commencal Oakley) as guest stars. The race saw just over a 100 riders from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand come to race each other over 2 days of urban downhill intensity.

FAKUPHILLFakawi Tribe "Fak-Up" Uphill Race Series

The first of its kind, this club series event organised together with the Fakawi Tribe Mountain Bike Club saw close to 100 mountain bikers and road bikers take the off-road hills and road hills around the Klang Valley and its outskirts with much gusto.

BMX Race

A smaller scale race, the BMX race was organised jointly with local BMX experts in 2004 to harness local talent and give frustrated BMX-ers an outlet and chance to prove themselves among peers. Supported by Malaysian National Cycling Federation, the race attracted about 50 BMX-ers - both participating and watching the event.

MIASpaceRace

MIA Space Race - City Adventure Race

 In April 2007, QRA organised a city adventure race in Kuala Lumpur to promote the Malaysian International Aerospace Exhibition held in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2007. This 2-day stage race saw teams of 2 racing to complete questions, tasks and challenges that were either Space or Tourism/Cultural related in several locations.

Club Series – Team Time Trial Series

The other race was a Team Time Trial Series which is a 4-person per team format road cycling race. The Team Time trial was fun as it was the team that worked best together that won the race and not necessarily the team with the best rider. The first race was on a flat course from Puchong to Putrajaya and back. The second race was uphill in Genting Sempah and even saw an all-female team coming in 8th out of 11 teams.

Club Series – King of Kiara Series

In 2003, QRA organized some local club races under the Lumba Haram Series banner, King of Kiara Series which is a mountain bike race in Kiara saw many vie for the ‘Penghulu of Kiara’ title. Some traveled from as far as Hong Kong to take part in the mountain bike race series. This eventually matured into the KL Mountain Bike Carnival event for the masses.

These local club races were started to create some interest in racing and also participation amongst the cycling communities.
